Released on November 7, the PS5 Pro continues to create debates about its real qualities, its performance and especially its price. But some influential members of the video game sector are coming to the defense of Sony's new console.
It's no longer a secret for players. To have the PS5 Pro accompanied by a disc reader, you will have to pay more than 920 euros. A substantial sum which had the gift of creating major controversies on social networks but above all of reinforcing the comparison between the new Sony console and the PC. With a digital version console costing around 800 euros, players are wondering about its real usefulness when a computer at the same price sometimes allows for better performance.

Support for Sony
The new PlayStation console can count on strong support. Spanish developer HexWorks was one of the first to promote sound graphics improvements on PS5 Pro, The Lords of the Fallen. The sequel is also planned for 2026. The WCCFTech site was able to speak with the main programmer of the game engine, Eduard Gonzales. “The title runs at the highest graphics settings on PC. It's true that you can get a higher frame rate on PC, but you need much more expensive hardware”, he says.
The observation does not stop only at his game. He emphasizes that it is the PS5 Pro which allows major advances according to him. “It further improves object visibility, texture density and overall resolution, while increasing frame rates. The PlayStation 5 was solid, but the PlayStation 5 Pro is truly exceptional hardware. It improves on the base PS5 in every way: a faster GPU, a faster CPU, improved ray tracing units, additional memory and dedicated machine learning hardware”, he assures. The new console notably allows a 40% increase in the native rendering resolution of Lords of the Fallen. But are the improvements enough to convince buyers?
The PS5 Pro at the same level as the PS4 Pro
If Sony has not yet revealed official international sales figures for the PS5 Pro, some sites have managed to make initial estimates. According to the Japanese site Gemastu, the new console sold around 13,000 more units than the PS4 Pro when it launched in Japan. The observation seems identical in the United States. We are therefore awaiting the final results from Sony in one of their press releases.
