Sony continues to want to strengthen its hold on the video game industry, particularly in Japan. The company is reportedly on the verge of acquiring Kadokawa, the parent company of FromSoftware, development studio for Elden Ring and Darks Souls. The Daily, here we go…
When you are at the top, you want to stay there as long as possible. This is what Sony is trying to do. The company wants to get its hands on the Japanese giant Kadokawa, present in publishing, cinema, animation and especially video games. Indeed, the group owns FromSoftware, who are behind Elden Ring, Dark Souls and Bloodborne. Kadokawa also owns Spike Chunsoft, which recently released DRAGON BALL: Sparking! ZERO, or Acquire, the studio behind Mario & Luigi: The Brotherhood Epic. It should already be remembered that Sony already owns shares in Kadokawa (2%), but also within FromSoftware itself (14.09%). A few months ago, it was Phil Spencer, director of Xbox Game Studios, who declared that the buyouts were not over at Microsoft. War is declared to determine who will have the biggest empire. The Daily is over.
