In Montpellier, a tele-imaging center interprets examinations from nine health establishments in Occitanie

Around thirty radiologists take turns there to analyze and diagnose imaging examinations carried out throughout the region, from Prades to and from to .

Cozy atmosphere and subdued lighting. In the Imadis Groupe premises, we are far from the atmosphere of a hospital radiology department. However, it is the same work that is carried out there.

In the heart of , the company has invested in premises in the former Saint-Charles hospital since July. Around thirty radiologists take turns in this tele-imaging center.

The examinations (scanner, MRI, etc.) are sent by eight hospital centers and a clinic in , which have signed a partnership with Imadis. Montpellier is the 12th center opened by the company in . They collaborate with 200 establishments.

“Each request is processed within minutes”

Created fifteen years ago in , Imadis has surfed a triple movement: the doubling in twenty years of the number of visits to the emergency room, the lack of doctors in the emergency room, and the decline in the number of radiologists, who are less than 9,000 In France.

“This unique organization in Europe, inspired by that of the Samu, allows radiologists to devote themselves 100% to incoming requests, which means that each request is processed in a few minutes”explains Arthur Hamel-Senecal, head of Imadis Groupe Montpellier.

“Thanks to optimal working conditions and the help of artificial intelligence, we can concentrate 100% on the diagnosis. We can also call on another radiologist, on site or remotely, to pool skills. Because we all have our specialties.”

“We devote 20% of our time to Imadis”

Arthur works 80% in the radiology department of CHU Lapeyronie. “My radiologists colleagues do the same, whether in the hospital, in the clinic or in an office. We are only here 20% of the time”.

In the large room there are five workstations, where each radiologist has three screens at their disposal. Next to it are a kitchen, a bathroom and three rooms for on-call duty, which the radiologists do twice a month on average. The interpretation of the images is in fact done 7/7 days and 24/24 hours.

Imadis Groupe primarily takes care of emergency examinations at any time, while providing during the day those scheduled by partner hospital centers.

The partner establishments are the hospitals of Auch, Castelnaudary, , Narbonne, Tarbes, Lourdes, Bagnères-de-Bigorre and Saint-Gaudens, as well as the Saint-Michel Elsan clinic in Prades.
