Netradyne targets drowsy driving with precision detection

Netradyne has launched its third generation of drowsy driving sensors with Driver Monitoring System (DMS) for real-time detection and intervention of drowsy driving.

Unlike systems that only respond to severe drowsiness, Netradyne’s DMS sensor is designed to identify early signs of fatigue, allowing fleets to take proactive safety measures, the company claims.

Netradyne says the system draws on extensive sleep research and a large dataset of driver behavior to detect early stages of drowsiness, even in low light conditions or if drivers are wearing glasses of sun. It uses advanced algorithms to measure indicators such as micro-sleep, blink rate and eye closure percentage over time to provide personalized, early alerts that warn drivers before they severe drowsiness does not set in, adds the company.

With the system’s ability to work in sync with Netradyne’s Driver-i multi-camera platform, fleet managers have access to both interior cabin and exterior views, enabling holistic monitoring of driver behavior and road conditions. This feature helps fleets address signs of driver fatigue by enabling data-driven coaching and schedule adjustment to improve safety and performance.
