There is not much to criticize about the 2024 range of folding smartphones from Samsung, except probably a small lack of boldness and novelty. This family of products is humming a bit, but the manufacturer could shake it up next year.

THE Galaxy Z Fold6 et Galaxy Z Flip6 launched last summer in are not bad guys: powerful and efficient, they refine design concepts released by Samsung in 2019 and improved every year since. But the very modest scale of the new products in the latest batch gives an avenue to the competition which can offer more and better, like the excellent MIX Flip from Xiaomi.

Samsung plays on prices

But obviously, Samsung has not said his last word. The manufacturer could play on prices to make the difference in 2025. According to Ross Young, analyst specializing in the screen industry, the group could add an “FE” version of the Galaxy Z Flip to the catalog. In other words, a “Fan Edition” model like Samsung offers for the Galaxy S24 or the Galaxy Watch, for example.

This range is distinguished by slightly less high-end materials and features, in exchange for which the prices are lower. The public price of the Galaxy Z Flip6 is €1,199 (there are often promotions at resellers). Can we hope for a Flip FE below the symbolic bar of €1,000? In addition to this FE model, we should expect a “normal” Galaxy Z Flip7.

As for the Galaxy Z Fold, however, there would be no FE version on the program, but a special edition like that was the case for the Fold6. And it will probably sell for more than the standard version. It remains to be seen whether these two models will be offered anywhere in the world: the special edition is reserved for South Korea and China.

The rumor also mentions a folding smartphone in three parts whose price promises to be stratospheric.
