The Tokyo firm, certainly very concerned about the launch of its next console, is focusing all its attention on second-rate franchises in order to smoothly support the end of the Switch. It is in this configuration that the sixth opus of the special role-playing game “Mario and Luigi” was released. Although appreciated, this saga does not generate as much interest as Nintendo’s flagship titles. Entitled “The Brotherly Epic,” this adventure takes place on the fragmented continent of Connexia, where most of its regions are now adrift.

Fortunately, the two brothers are there to save the day and regroup the inhabitants of these islands in their initial configuration. The opportunity to discover several biomes aboard the Navisthmus and to embark on various quests by being propelled by a cannon. If the idea is attractive on paper, the rhythm of the epic is somewhat interrupted by this means of transport that is far too slow. Despite everything, once in an area, exploration and combat take over and we have a lot of fun in these turn-based scuffles, with active participation to support attacks or defensive movements. Galvanized by its humor and its gameplay, “The Brotherly Epic” hits the mark, despite a fluidity undermined by the Switch and an adventure that is a bit too conventional.
