The general meeting of the Municipal Hunting Association (ACC) Laborariekin of Briscous was held on Friday June 14 at the Xirrita room where they have their premises. Beñat Ithurbide, president of the association, opened the session before handing over to Roger Etchepare, vice-president and former lieutenant of louveterie, who replaced the treasurer of the association, who was unable to attend.

Roger Etchepare presented the financial report. He announced that the price of the annual Laborariekin membership card for the coming season would remain unchanged. Then, Beñat Ithurbide took stock of the releases of small game: a few pheasants will be released in July and around ten pairs of hares are already in the field.

Few fox catches

The hunting report showed that few foxes were captured during the hunts. On the other hand, the wild boar hunting season went well, although we can always do better and the quota of this year’s hunting plan for deer was respected. Regarding deer, given that the majority of hunts take place during the week, the debate has arisen on this hunt during the weekend. For the moment, the first hunts are planned for Saturday mornings of September 14 and 21, 2024.

Annual meal in August

The day of August 31 will be devoted to the traditional annual meal, which will begin at 6:30 a.m. with a snack at first light. Sausages, belly and pâtés will be on the menu, followed by a midday meal served on platters and hosted by the Nahaxiak group from Cambo, specializing in traditional Basque songs, creating a festive and friendly atmosphere.

The sale of membership cards at Laborariekin, with payment on site, will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Thursday August 22, Friday August 23 and Friday September 6. The list of members of the association in charge of the operation was finalized during the meeting at the end of the session.
