The new queen of tablets is out!
As usual, the Cupertino company has designed an impeccable tablet for us, both in terms of finishes and screen. The iPad Pro M4 is the thinnest tablet on the market to date, its thickness of 5.3 mm is almost unreal. Which naturally raises the question of robustness, and against all expectations, the iPad Pro 2024 is more durable and resistant than the iPad Pro 2022. To further improve the user experience, the new Pencil Pro and Magic Keyboard are almost essential, but devilishly expensive!
On the screen side, the new iPad Pro swaps its Mini-LED screen for an Ultra Retina XDR panel based on “Tandem OLED” technology. The latter consists of the juxtaposition of two OLED panels, which provides unprecedented brightness for this display technology while maintaining perfect blacks, infinite contrast ratio and vivid colors. Another good news is that the 11-inch version also benefits from this new feature even though it was not entitled to Mini-LED in 2022.
A promising iPad that can do even better
If the iPad Pro approaches perfection with each generation, it is only thanks to the hardware part. This tablet has the potential to be a Mac thanks to its chip and its Magic Keyboard, but there it is, it’s just an iPad running iPadOS. This operating system derived from the iPhone’s iOS becomes a real ball and chain that prevents the iPad Pro from flying even higher. When it comes to performing simple tasks or working, the iPad Pro M4 is sometimes restrictive, and even poorly constructed. The iPad is considered by Apple as a complementary device to the MacBook, hence the lack of desire to develop the software part, but if this is really the case, we should think about not selling this iPad at the same price as ‘a MacBook…
When it comes to performance, Apple’s new M4 chip promises to be super powerful. When we compare the benchmarks with the results of the M3 chip, we realize that the power gain is simply monstrous. But as it stands, this excess power is under-exploited since the iPad Pro M4 only uses iPadOS. Finally, the autonomy also promises to be particularly high, if Apple promises a duration of 10 hours in video playback, it has already happened that the results exceed the announcements.
