Sony has announced the upcoming launch of its Sony Alpha 1 II, its future full frame camera dedicated to professionals. The formalization is planned for the end of the month.

Until now, the year had been rather calm for Sony in the photo market. The Japanese manufacturer was content to launch its Sony A9 III at the beginning of the year, before formalization at the end of last year, as well as the Sony SV-E10 II, with an APS-C sensor, last July.

However, like every year, the end of the year should be a little more lively for Sony. In fact, the manufacturer announced, on its website dedicated to cameras, the upcoming arrival of a new hybrid camera with a full frame sensor, the Sony Alpha1 II, or Sony A1 II.

As its name suggests, the device will succeed the Sony A1, launched in 2021. It was then a camera equipped with a wide definition sensor of 50 million pixels with a sensitivity range of 100 to ISO 32,000, expandable from ISO 50 to 102,400. The device also benefited from a high definition mode allowing 16 shots to be accumulated for photos of 199 million pixels. It also allowed burst photography at up to 30 frames per second with the electronic shutter.

Another high-end case launched at the start of the year

Since then, however, Sony has launched its A9 III, a particularly fast device thanks to its global shutter system (global shutter). Enough to offer a burst of up to 120 images per second, but with a less defined sensor of only 24.6 million pixels.

For the Sony A1 II, we can therefore expect Sony to further strengthen the advantages of the first Sony A1 by focusing on high definition, without sacrificing speed and burst.

We will know more about the Sony A1 II during its official presentation. This is scheduled for November 19 at 3 p.m. time. The presentation will be live on YouTube.
