Our opinion on the MSI Thin 15 B12UCX-2412FR
Versatile, the portable PC MSI Thin 15 B12UCX-2412FR thin and light, easy to carry, is efficient thanks to its 16 GB of RAM and its hybrid Intel Core i5-12450H Alder Lake processor which accelerate processing. This is also the case of the GeForce RTX 2050 ray tracing NVIDIA Ampere graphics card suitable for modest games integrated into this Ultrabook whose 15-inch IPS Full HD anti-glare screen improves fluidity in games thanks to its frequency of 144Hz. This scalable gray laptop whose responsiveness is enhanced by the fast 512 GB SSD is also equipped with a backlit keyboard (but without numeric keypad) and Wi-Fi 6E and Ethernet connectivity.

Chassis, connectors, screen of the MSI Thin 15 B12UCX-2412FR
It has a sober look with its relatively thin and light angular design in dark Cosmos Gray.
The connectivity integrated into this versatile laptop is good, consisting of 1 USB-C, Ethernet and audio ports, Wi-Fi 6E ax and Bluetooth 5.3 modules for wireless remote connections and communications, an output HDMI video useful for easily connecting it to a TV or a monitor for example or even 3 USB 3.0 (USB 2.0 compatible) guaranteeing transfers taking place up to 5 times faster than USB 2.0 if USB 3.0 devices are plugged into it.
The chiclet keyboard benefits from a backlighting solution. Simply activate it when you need to better distinguish the keys.
Some will, however, regret the absence of a numeric keypad, which is practical for entering numbers. Especially since this functionality is standard from 15 inches.
The screen is adorned with a frequency of 144Hz higher than the standard 60Hz which provides much better overall fluidity, including in games.
Featuring a 16:9 format suitable for videos, the Full HD screen benefits from significant vertical and horizontal viewing angles thanks to its IPS technology.
The screen also has an anti-reflective coating ensuring better visibility than a shiny panel in a bright environment (e.g. outdoors).
Performance, battery life of the MSI Thin 15 B12UCX-2412FR
The MSI Thin 15 B12UCX-2412FR is a high-performance, gaming-oriented all-round laptop.
It delivers good general performance which will delight many users.
Because it is based on 16 GB of RAM associated with a Core i5-12450H Intel Alder Lake processor with 8 hybrid cores in which the Iris Xe graphics module takes place.
Thanks to the Core i5, we obtain faster processing than if we were dealing with a classic Quad Core. You can clearly feel the difference in work requiring RAM and CPU resources that takes advantage of multi-core, such as photo editing or video editing.
Creative people will appreciate it, especially since the dedicated GeForce RTX 2050 graphics card is on board. Because it provides acceleration of multimedia processing under software using GPU computing power, such as VSDC, Vegas or Adobe Photoshop.
The GeForce RTX 2050 ray tracing NVIDIA Ampere will also interest gamers since it runs modest games. Of course in this area, the more we are ready to make concessions, the more we will be able to play slightly more demanding games.
The GeForce RTX 4060 is in practice used by NVIDIA Optimus technology to carry out graphics processing deemed too heavy for the Iris Xe. With one or the other, viewing photos and videos is obviously possible.
Much less powerful than the GeForce RTX 2050, the Iris
Coming back to the graphics services, Optimus actually automatically switches in real time between the Iris Xe and the GeForce RTX 2050.
MSI has the good idea to offer here a scalable storage solution thanks to a free 2.5 inch slot to insert a hard drive or a second SSD if necessary.
As a base, a 512 GB SSD is in fact integrated, a classic solution found in many models sold – including (much) more expensive models.
Thanks to the SSD we benefit from great responsiveness and fluidity in daily tasks, due to the fact that it offers great speed.
As a bonus, an SSD is silent, energy efficient and robust.
As a result, thanks to the SSD, starts/stops are fast, as are launches of software/games, processing or even arrival on online game cards.
Finally, expect this Ultrabook, whose transport is made easier by its controlled weight and its thinness, to heat up and be heard in the event of heavy use (e.g.: treatments, games).
To contain its temperatures, it can be combined with a ventilated support if necessary (remember to check the dimensions carefully!).
