The recent Nothing Phone (2a) is already benefiting from a nice price drop on Amazon

The Nothing Phone (2a) seeks to shake up the big names in the mid-range, namely Samsung and Xiaomi, and achieved this feat by putting forward a beautiful technical sheet. Today, here it is on sale at 317 euros compared to the basic 349 euros.

The young Nothing brand first started in the audio sector and then moved into the smartphone market by offering a successful first model and a second iteration that was a little more high-end oriented. This time, the manufacturer is aiming for good value for money at less than 400 euros with its Phone (2a). This is also the model that we recommend for this price bracket, and if you are interested, at the moment, it is already losing almost 10% of its price with this offer.

What we like about the Nothing Phone (2a)

  • A truly attractive smartphone with the Glyph
  • Great performance provided by a MediaTek chip
  • Nothing OS 2.5 widgets and options

Available at 349 euros in its 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage version, the Nothing Phone (2a) is currently on sale at 317.60 euros on Amazon.

Where to buy

Nothing Phone (2a) at the best price?

The iconic design of Nothing, with a few concessions

The Nothing Phone (2a) takes up the codes of what made the design success of its predecessors, and also focuses on a back “ transparent “. But this is only an illusion: we have the impression that we are seeing the components of the device through a window, but in reality, it is made of plastic. On the back, we also find its Glyph LED system, the trademark of Nothing smartphones. The light circle around the photo module can serve as an indicator to warn of the reception of messages, the end of a timer, or the arrival of a call. It can also be used as a flashlight. A gadget, but which brings a little something extra compared to the competition.

At the front, the Nothing Phone (2a) benefits from a beautiful 6.7-inch AMOLED screen with an adaptive 120 Hz refresh rate, which can go down to 30 Hz if necessary. Enough to offer fluid navigation, with good colorimetric accuracy. Our measurements made it possible to detect a brightness peak around 1000 cd/m2, which is very satisfactory for consulting the phone in most situations, even in direct sunlight. The grip is excellent, thanks to its flat edges, but the plastic finishes are not to our taste.

A nice technical sheet for the price

In terms of performance, the manufacturer forgets Qualcomm and chooses a Dimensity 7200 Pro accompanied by 8 GB of RAM. A wise choice, because given the benchmarks that we were able to carry out, the Phone (2a) manages to outperform its direct competitors, sometimes by a large margin. In game, performance is relatively satisfactory: On Genshin ImpactorFortnite, it is possible to run games in medium mode without experiencing too much stuttering. With NothingOS 2.5 based on Android 14, the interface is fluid and responsive, and offers very in-depth customization down to the Glyph animation that we particularly appreciate. Please note, it includes 3 versions of Android and 4 years of security updates.

In the photo part, (2a) does quite well. The quality is pretty good regardless of the sensor. However, we regret the greenish side of most of the shots, but the overall experience is satisfactory. To finish on autonomy, the Phone (2a) resists active use very well with lots of applications launched in succession. Moreover, on our custom ViSer test protocol, it lasted for almost 15 hours and 34 minutes. However, the smartphone has a nasty tendency to lose battery percentages in sleep mode. Fortunately, we find a good charging power of 45 W.
