For its third edition, the arts promenade took place on the Allées Charles de Gaulle in Revel. The exhibition offers a journey to the heart of the galaxy.

The annual exhibition of the Promenade des Arts was officially inaugurated this Thursday, June 13 in the evening, in the presence of elected officials and Senator Alain Chatillon. For this third edition, around fifty photographs tell the story of the universe, the stars and the conquest of space, as well as the polluting consequences of the latter, with nearly 3,500 satellites sent into space since the 1950s. .

Karine Gadré, doctor in astronomy from the University of Toulouse III, worked for a long time on the development of this new walk, alongside the Revel town hall. Karine Gadré wanted to make known a little-known universe, “yet only 100 km away, a simple round trip Toulouse-Revel”.

The fifty photographs were arranged like a galaxy, around five themes: the universe on a large scale, the tools of space exploration, space from earth, the cycle of the stars, planetary exploration.

These magnificent photographs are rich in history, some dating from the 20th or even 19th century. “Each photo required a particular technical development, which constitutes a real technological revolution,” confides Karine Gadré.

Highlights to remember

Alongside the exhibition, other activities are planned.

On Wednesdays July 17 and August 14 at 6 p.m., Karine Gadré will offer a stroll among the photographs, in order to explore in more detail the history and meaning of each work, all while listening to the “song of the dawns” and the takeoff of the Ariane 5 rocket.

On Sunday July 28 at 9:45 p.m., meet in Saint-Ferréol for an evening of observation under the stars in partnership with the Montredon-Labessonié observatory.
