The Microsoft Copilot Plus suite, which brings a large number of new artificial intelligence functions, will remain exclusive to the Snapdragon X series. It will be available in the Snapdragon X series market at launch. This means that you will only be able to enjoy these features on a laptop equipped with Qualcomm’s new ARM processors on June 18.

Currently available AMD Hawk Point and Intel Meteor Lake systems do not officially benefit from AI features due to the NPU requirement. As described by Microsoft, Copilot Plus AI features require an NPU with at least 40 TOPs of AI performance. The good news is that both companies’ next-generation processors meet this requirement.

Specifically, the NPU of AMD Strix Point processors can deliver up to 50 TOPs while the NPU of Intel Lunar Lake can deliver up to 48 TOPs of AI performance. But even if they meet the requirements, they won’t benefit from Copilot Plus features at launch.

Intel’s Thomas Hannaford says: “Lunar Lake will benefit from Copilot Plus experiences via an update when it becomes available” These new processors are expected to launch in the third quarter of 2024. AMD Strix Point processors should be available by the month of August, but as the company’s Matthew Hurwitz reports, the expected time frame for new AI features to be integrated into new AMD laptops on new AMD laptops is set for late 2024 .
