The Municipality of Beaulac-Garthby held, for a second year, its Pumpkin POP on October 31. This event brought together the efforts of the entire village to offer a new kind of Halloween to the 62 students and staff members of St-Nom-de-Jésus school.

The POP Citrouille aims to be unifying and intergenerational. This party has been in the works since the beginning of October. The Bird Trail had purchased pumpkins and prepared everything needed for their decoration. The students were divided into six groups to participate in the decoration workshops. The beautifully decorated pumpkins took place on the front of the chalet to give a carnival look to the Bellerive Park chalet, to the delight of onlookers.

On the day of the Pumpkin POP, October 31 in the morning, the pumpkins were moved near the St-Nom-de-Jésus school, on route 112. Then, from 12:50 p.m., students, teachers and principal benefited from a police escort to the leisure center, where the route began.

Municipal organizations also participated by preparing different treats to offer to children during the parade. The Bird Trail had made tissue paper flags in the colors of fall and distributed them to the students along with a flute, which they used to set the tone for the parade. More than 13 local organizations contributed to the success of this celebration.

Halfway through the course, the students went on a treasure hunt at Bellerive Park and earned themselves a glass of witch’s elixir. Then, the parade resumed for the last segment on St-Jacques Street for a return to school.

The event ended on Friday, November 1 with the tasting of a pumpkin cake baked by the CERD and volunteer Aurélien Grenier, offered to the students and volunteers who participated. Everyone is pumped to do it again next year.
