Paul didn’t expect this: On Sunday, the 37-year-old wanted to relax by going mushroom picking with his family on the Exelberg near Vienna, but instead found a royal python.

These animals are not expected to be dangerous to humans – they are part of the non-venomous constrictor snakes – but they can grow up to two meters long as adults.

Paul and his son Valentin made the big discovery around 5 p.m., as reported by “Heute”.

There was great surprise when the family saw the exotic reptile slithering across the ground. It is assumed that the animal was abandoned by its owner.

And hop, into the basket!

“Heute” writes that Paul managed to capture the royal python. He is said to have transported the snake with the basket intended for mushrooms and finally brought it to the reception center of the Vienna Sea House.

Experts are now caring for the animal. Previously, the man informed the station by telephone.

It is not yet known whether the person who owns the snake will come out of the woods. “We are waiting to see if an owner will come forward, although this is unlikely,” explains a specialist in “Der Standard”.
