this elegant television packs a punch

The high-end brand Loewe recently announced its return to the market for TVs, video projectors and audio systems. It has just unveiled its first 2024 television, very elegant, featuring a White-Oled MLA panel manufactured by LG Display. All with Samsung’s Tizen operating system and with a hint of light in the base part reminiscent of Philips Ambilight technology. An entire program !

After having abandoned the French market for several months, the German brand Loewe will make its return in the weeks and months to come with several new television models. The figurehead is the Stellar TV, the most high-end model which benefits from a particularly distinctive design, unlike any other TV currently available on the market. Before diving into the technologies used here, let’s note that the device benefits from an aluminum frame with, on the right side, a small label bearing the Loewe brand.

In addition, the TV has a 2 mm stone plate on the back which is unique for each model and looks particularly beautiful. The rear shell is available in several colors to match the tones of the room that will host this television.

The latter rests on a foot with a tube – itself on an X-shaped base – which allows the screen to be rotated to find the best viewing angle. However, as always with Loewe, other leg options are available, with or without motorization and it can also be hung on the wall.

The Loewe Stellar television is available in 42, 48, 55, 65, 77, 83 and 97 inches.

An assembly in Germany and an original composition

The assembly of the parts in this series is carried out in the Loewe factory in Kronach, Germany. Among these, there is the screen which has a White-OLED type panel provided by LG Display. The 55, 65 and 77 inch diagonals benefit from MLA (Micro Lens Array) META 2.0 technology to boost brightness, just like the latest LG G4, M4 and Panasonic Z95A models.

The other sizes do not have it, therefore offering less brightness. However, Loewe told us that it had reduced the brightness in order to preserve the panel, in particular from the potential effects of burning and to ensure maximum lifespan for their users. It will be interesting to see what peak brightness is offered, depending on the size.

Until now, on these TVs, Loewe used the Vidaa entertainment system, developed by Hisense. From now on, the brand offers Loewe os9 which is in fact Tizen OS, dongac the interface that we can have on Samsung televisions. Like the latter, the Loewe Stellar TV has all the most popular streaming applications. In addition, it is possible to record TV shows on the integrated SSD hard drive, a specificity of the German brand. We can count on HDR10, HDR10+, HLG and Dolby Atmos compatibility.

For the moment, Loewe Stellar televisions do not support the Dolby Vision format, like Samsung TV models, but those responsible for the brand do not exclude the possibility of a future firmware update which could correct this. Otherwise, there are 4 HDMI 2.1 inputs supporting Ultra HD at 144 Hz, VRR and ALLM technologies.

Finally, the lower part of the television not only accommodates the audio system which offers a power of 80 watts, which is far from ridiculous for a TV, in the form of a sound bar, but also, and this is much more original, an LED system. This is called “Magic Light” and immediately brings to mind the Amibilight system, exclusive to Philips TVs. The comparison ends there, because it is not possible to synchronize the lighting with the content on the screen. You can only vary the color temperature via the settings menu and obtain a small animation when the device is turned on and off.

Price and availability of Loewe Stellar TVs

Given the care taken in the design, with a high-end panel, a high-performance system and an audio package which should be satisfactory, the prices of Loewe Stellar TVs are accordingly. So, count on a price of €3,299 for the Loewe Stellar 42-inch Silver OLED Ultra HD SL8 (during June), €3,799 for the 48-inch version in July, €4,299 for the 55-inch in June, €5,299 for the 65 inches in July, €9,999 for the 77-inch in October and €19,999 for the 83-inch also this fall.

The price of the 97-inch model, due next year, we are told, is expected to be astronomical.
