Nintendo’s latest financial report published here was an opportunity to take stock of global sales of the Switch but also on Nintendo games coming to Switch in 2025.
But on Nintendo Switch, there are not only Nintendo games and the Japanese company also wanted to point out that.
While the latest consoles Nintendo tended to scare away third-party publishers, Nintendo Switch has proven to be a very popular console for third-party publishers and independent studios to the point that Nintendo today claims that relationships with third parties have never been stronger.
We thus discover that contrary to popular belief, the volume of sales of third-party and independent games has continued to grow to now be almost on par with the volume of sales of games published by Nintendo.
Obviously, we hope that the honeymoon will continue on the next Switchcommonly called Nintendo SWITCH 2 whose presentation we are awaiting by March 2025.
In the meantime, don’t hesitate to tell us what you think about it in the comments.
Translation Financial Statement – FY24/25 – Q2
Thanks to these efforts, our partnerships with software companies are stronger than ever today.
- Among the publishers featured here are some that we only became aware of when they first released software for a Nintendo platform with the Nintendo Switch.
Additionally, with the Nintendo Switch, we’ve seen a significant number of releases from independent software developers. Many titles that embody the unique ideas of these independent developers frequently top our download charts, adding even more excitement to our platform.
- We highlight the appeal of independent titles through our special Indie World program, which aims to make the development and sales aspects of our platform attractive to developers.
- As a result, approximately half of the software units sold since the fiscal year ended March 2021 are titles published by other software publishers.
- This figure does not include the many download-only titles that have been released by software publishers.
- Sales of first-hand titles and titles published by other software publishers continue to reach high levels.
