Test – Secretlab Titan Evo

Among the products labeled gaming, we obviously find PCs, screens and other keyboards, but this list is far from exhaustive. Because to spend hours playing their favorite video games, it’s better to be seated comfortably. And among the biggest names in gaming chairs, Secretlab occupies a special place. Rightly so? This is what we are going to see.

Test conditions : although it is primarily intended for gamers, it was during work sessions lasting several hours in front of a PC that we tested the Secretlab Titan Evo. We opted for the Regular model intended for people 170-189cm and under 100kg with SoftWeave Plus fabric.

Easy to handle… or almost

The adventure of the Titan Evo starts well before sitting in it since the chair is delivered as a kit. And with its 34.5 kilos, moving the box is already a challenge in itself. We preferred to unpack the package and transport the parts one by one to our office to start assembly. The good news is that in its quest for premium, the Singaporean company has thought of everything and delivers your chair with all the accessories necessary for its assembly.

In the same vein, we note the care taken to protect each piece. There is no chance that they will be damaged during transport – even if we can still regret a pile of plastic waste.

As for the assembly itself, the instructions (only in English) gave us a hard time. Not necessarily being used to assembling gaming chairs, we had to turn to explanatory YouTube videos provided via a QR code. In the end, it took us a little less than thirty minutes to put it together alone.

Elegance and sobriety

Although more imposing than a traditional office chair, the Secretlab Titan Evo nevertheless remains more discreet than certain other gaming models. Its bucket seats – the enveloping part at shoulder level – are almost non-existent. With its very sober design, the Secretlab gaming chair has integrated perfectly into our office. It must be said that it is much more versatile than the gaming versions we are used to seeing. And in our case, we liked it. If you are looking for a chair that is both sober and ergonomic for spending hours playing, this model might appeal to you. And for those who prefer more colorful office accessories, Secretlab has thought of you since the company offers no less than 69 combinations, including fabrics in very eccentric colors, inspired by very popular licenses.

In terms of finishes, we feel that the Secretlab teams have made it a point of honor to offer an ultra high-end finished product. Nothing stands out, nothing shocks. In addition to the easy assembly – allowing the two parts of the seat to fit together solo – no screws are visible when the gaming chair is assembled. They are all hidden behind covers using a magnetic system. It’s smart and obviously very practical, in addition to offering a longer lifespan. We can still criticize the use of plastic on certain parts which are less premium. It will also be noted that the fixing system shows its limits at the armrest level. When you get up too suddenly, they can lift or even simply come off, which can be annoying.

Finally, as for the movement of the product, nothing to complain about. Although it is quite heavy, its wheels roll without any problem and only require a slightly stronger push than a traditional office chair to move. We were pleasantly surprised at this level. It is rather to change axis that its weight is felt. In this case, you will have to put more force into it, but nothing insurmountable.

Positions galore

But what about the seat itself? Is the Secretlab Titan Evo comfortable? Yes. In our case, we particularly appreciated the seat which was wide enough to allow us to sit cross-legged – just to change position. Remember that there are three sizes (Small, Regular and XL), so everyone can find the right shoe for them.

Designed to be ergonomic, the chair is quite firm, which does not displease us. Spending long hours curled up in the Secretlab Titan Evo is quite pleasant, although there are undoubtedly other seats that are even more comfortable, but at a much more prohibitive price.

Fidgeting on the gaming chair will not be a problem, since its center of gravity offers great stability, despite movements and different positions in which it can recline. Because yes, the Titan Evo offers a wide choice of positions, from 85 to 165 degrees, all while maintaining this stability. We still encountered some difficulties in changing the angle of inclination, but this could also come from the assembly and therefore, from us.

However, we note that the chair does not let out any squeaking or other noise when you fidget on it. Sign of high quality.

Extensive customization

In addition to the possibility of choosing between three sizes, the Secretlab Titan Evo offers a wide choice of options so that the user can adapt it to their body. The possibility of changing the height of the seat is obviously essential, as is the inclination of the backrest, but also the strength of the lumbar support and its height. Options usually reserved for even more expensive models, even if we must admit not to have noticed any big differences during our test.

The customization extends to the armrests, which are very comfortable, with the possibility of raising or lowering them, moving them closer to the seat or not and tilting them. Options which are the norm today, but which remain interesting, provided you can understand the different mechanisms to operate them. They can sometimes be a hassle, but once the armrests are properly installed, you no longer need to touch them, that’s it. However, we regret that they are not more stable. In fact, the simple act of leaning on them or brushing against them makes them tremble, which can cause squeaking.

Finally, A magnetic memory foam headrest comes with the chair. A real plus since it provides good support at the neck level. The fact that it is based on a magnetic fixing system is also a good thing since it can easily be removed or simply slid to best adapt to its user without having to fiddle with a strap at the back.

Conclusion

With its sober and elegant design, its numerous customization options, its high-end finishes which reveal in-depth attention to the smallest details, the Titan Evo from Secretlab has serious and solid arguments to appear at the top of the ranking of the best gaming chairs in this price category. Moreover, certain of its aspects, usually reserved for more expensive models, accentuate its attractiveness. We will still note an assembly which can be complex, armrest magnets which leave something to be desired, armrests which are sometimes noisy and wobbly and a price which, for many, remains too high.
