According to information from Statcounter relayed by our colleagues on the site Android AuthorityGoogle's market share on American soil would have tripled between September and October 2024, going from 4.6% to nearly 12.9%. Unprecedented for the American giant, which thus manages to gain almost half of the shares held by Samsung. For its part, Apple recorded a decline of almost 4% over the same period. As a reminder, the Mountain View giant had already seen an increase in its market share last year, suggesting that the manufacturer's efforts to attract new users are gradually bearing fruit.
It should be noted, however, that the data shared by Statcounter do not come directly from sales or users. They are actually collected from tracking code installed on more than 1.5 million websites around the world. Although this method may have some limitations, the sample size nevertheless suggests that the results are relatively reliable and representative of Google's overall progress in the smartphone market.
