A new technical problem has tarnished Apple’s reputation. This time, it’s the iPhone 14 Plus that is affected, with a malfunction in its rear camera preventing the preview from being displayed.

Faced with this situation, Apple quickly reacted by setting up a free repair program.

A bug that affects recent devices

Contrary to what one might think, this problem does not concern the first iPhone 14 Plus to come off the production lines.

Affected devices were manufactured between April 10, 2023 and April 28, 2024i.e. relatively recent models. Apple speaks of a “very small percentage” of devices affected, without giving precise figures. The bug manifests itself in the inability to display the rear camera preview, rendering the camera virtually unusable.

If you think your iPhone 14 Plus is affected, the steps to follow are simple. Start by going to Apple’s support page and entering your device’s serial number.

If your smartphone is one of the defective models, you can then choose between several repair options:

  • Make an appointment at an Apple Store
  • Contact an Apple Authorized Repair Center
  • Use the remote repair service

Important point to note: this repair program is valid for three years.

Finally, if you have already paid to have this specific problem repaired, Apple will reimburse you for the costs incurred.
