Are you considering buying the M4 MacBook Pros? Well, the latest rumors may lead you to postpone this purchase until much later. Indeed, recent statements from Mark Gurman announce big changes for the generation equipped with M6 chips.
In his latest Power On newsletter, the journalist specializing in the world of Apple discusses what “the MacBook Pro probably won't get a makeover until 2026”. A discrepancy with its previous predictions, which leaned towards a release in 2025.
This refresh would firstly concern the chassis, and would result in a “design plus fin” than the latest MacBook Pros. The opportunity to rejuvenate the build of Apple's professional computers, unchanged since the M1 Pro and M1 Max version, released in 2021.
This would make it possible to follow the trend of finesse at the Apple firm, introduced this year with the iPad Pro M4 and expected for the start of the 2025 school year with the iPhone 17 Air.
The second evolution would also come from Apple's latest high-end tablets: the screen. Just like the latest iPad Pros, the Mini-LED panel of the MacBook Pros would be replaced by Oled. The opportunity to have an even more faithful screen, notably with the vibrant colors and deep blacks offered by this technology.
In addition to these two developments, Mark Gurman also talked about performance. According to him, the M6 chips would be engraved in 2 nanometers, which would result in a significant boost performance and better energy efficiency (and therefore autonomy).
