Before the official release of the console on November 7, the JV editorial team received the PS5 Pro in advance in order to give you our first impressions. But before that, we offer you a little unboxing to discover what the box has in store, but also what this new console looks like.

But before it's test time, we offer you a little unboxing, that is to say a preview, to find out what the box of Sony's most powerful console has in store. The PS5 Pro, a visually in-between model
The first element that strikes you when looking at the packaging of the PS5 Pro is the logo at the top right which indicates that a disk drive is not present. Like the digital version of the base console, you must purchase a separate disc reader if you want to play your games physically on the console which still costs €119 alone. Beyond that, we find in the box the minimum to operate the console, namely a power cable, an HDMI 2.1 cable, but also a USB-C to USB-C cable, which marks a first difference by compared to the base console. As for accessories next to the console, know that you can take a vertical base sold separately for €29 if you want to hold your console upright.
Now, as for the console itself, we compared it physically next to the basic PS5 and the so-called “Slim” PS5. So, the PS5 Pro is placed right between the two, namely that it is thinner than the original PS5, a little smaller, but still a little thicker and larger than the PS5 “Slim”. Moreover, it is visually distinguished from the latter with its three small side stripes which allow it to be recognized directly. As for our technical test, we'll see you soon!
What does the PS5 Pro bring?
After months of rumors, it was finally on September 10, 2024 that Sony decided to reveal to the world the more powerful version of its latest console: the PS5 Pro. Presented by Mark Cerny, the architect of the console, but also of the basic PS4 and PS5, this new machine is presented as the most powerful console ever created by Sony. To produce an image more beautiful than ever, the PS5 Pro relies on three pillars: the PSSR for PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution which makes it possible to offer improved resolution in 4K thanks to AI, support for 60 Hz and 120 Hz screens for achieve higher, more consistent frame rates and improved Ray-Tracing to provide better reflections, shadows and lighting in general.
