The Japanese manufacturer has demonstrated astuteness: on the basis of its CX-60he developed a new vehicle almost 5 meters long capable of accommodating up to seven people in three rows, and expected to play a major role in the quite sought-after segment of large luxury family SUVs: the Cx-80.

A successful design for the colossus

The machine seems quality knead. First of all, it offers a fine, elegant line, inspired by modern designer dresses that traditionally dress hybrids. Here, a slightly sloping hood overlooks an imposing honeycomb grille framed by huge side air intakes. Under the hood, Mazda offers a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder plug-in hybrid of 190 chassociated with a 129 kW electric motor (i.e. 175 hp) and a 17.8 kWh lithium-ion battery which promises autonomy all electric at least 60 km. The manufacturer announces a cumulative power of 327 ch for a generous torque of 500 Nm. No small feat for a machine that weighs more than two tons!

Controlled consumption

The Cx-80 shows itself capable, despite its mammoth dimensions, of very good performance since it can go from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 7 seconds and reach the maximum speed of 195 km/h. If we don’t push too hard, the large SUV promises mixed consumption at less than 6 L/100 km for a CO2 emissions level of 36 g/km.

The Cx-80 may be a mammoth of the road, but its performance, despite its impressive dimensions, is a feat. This large, comfortable SUV with exemplary handling will be the perfect companion for large families. With its choice of astonishing engines, it is ready to establish itself on the European market.
