This is a world first: a French start-up has achieved the feat of tweeting through thought

This is a feat that even Elon Musk’s company Neuralink has not been able to achieve.

A French start-up is about to make history. This Friday, May 31, it made it possible to write and publish a first tweet, purely through thought.

“This is the first tweet in history written and published solely by thought! Bravo to the creators of Prometheus, a technological revolution serving the common good and inclusion”, congratulated President Emmanuel Macron that same day on X (formerly Twitter). “French pride”he added.

The society Inclusive Brains is at the origin of this feat. Founded in 2022by Olivier Oullier, neuroscientist turned AI entrepreneur, his goal is to help people who have lost the use of their limbsfollowing an accident or because of a degenerative disease, thanks to artificial intelligence and brain-machine interfaces.

Tweet in the blink of an eye

A world premiere, the company rejoiced in its publication. This feat was possible thanks to an exoskeleton at arm level and Prometheus, a neurotechnology that makes it possible to transform various neurophysiological data (such as brain waves, facial expressions, eye movements, etc.) into mental commands. To do this, simply blink your eyes or… grit your teeth.

Helping people with disabilities

“Being able to control a computer with your mind”, this is the objective that the start-up wanted to achieve. And mission accomplished, with this tweet written ‘only in thought’, published with the blink of an eye.

This technology is, for the moment, “designed to help people who are unable to use their hands or speak”, described Olivier Ouiller. Indeed, the brain-computer interface created by the company would allow those concerned “operate workstations, connected objects, navigate digital environments without needing to type on a keyboard, touch a screen or use voice commands”he detailed in a press release.

Elon Musk ahead of

In order to accelerate “the development of assistance solutions powered by AI that give more autonomy to people with disabilities and facilitate their access to education and the world of work”Inclusive Brains partnered with Allianz Trade, a credit insurance company which provided financial support for the project.
The Marseille start-up will have moved ahead Neuralinkone of the empires ofElon Muskwho was actively working on this same project.
