Windows 11 24H2 breaks clipboard history – quick fix restores function

Windows 11 24H2 is a major update that brings new artificial intelligence features and other advancements to the operating system. However, the new update also brings many bugs, like the previous pointer bug we reported. Now there is another problem: the clipboard history function is not working.

The clipboard history feature was first introduced in Windows 10 October 2018 Update. The purpose of this feature is to keep a history of copied items. Besides text, it can also keep a history of copied images. With Windows 11, the clipboard history feature has also been improved by allowing users to see their recently used GIFs and emojis.

According to the Windows Latest news source, there is a new issue with Windows 11 24H2 update where the clipboard shows an empty history.

If you are one of the affected users, you can try a simple workaround until Microsoft officially fixes this issue.

  1. Go to Settings on your PC, then navigate to System and click Clipboard.
  2. Turn off the Suggested Actions feature if it is enabled.
  3. Now open the Clipboard by pressing Windows + V keys. Check if the copied items appear as expected.
  4. You can re-enable the suggested actions.

At this time, there is no official acknowledgment from Microsoft regarding this issue.
