Thales: signs a contract for ESA satellites

Thales Alenia Space signs a contract to develop two radar instruments that will equip the tandem of Earth observation satellites for the Harmony mission, the 10th in the European Space Agency’s (ESA) Earth Explorer program. Launch on board Vega-C is planned by 2029.

Thales Alenia Space will lead a multidisciplinary European industrial consortium responsible for designing, developing and validating C-band SAR instruments, and will also be responsible for the C-band digital electronics and antenna tiles that will equip the two Harmony satellites.

‘With data from the Copernicus Sentinel-1 mission, of which Thales Alenia Space is the prime contractor, the constellation of two Harmony satellites will provide a multitude of new information on our oceans, our ice, our earthquakes and our volcanoes, which will make significant contributions to climate research and risk monitoring’ indicates the group.
