Hurricane Milton, which struck Florida (United States) on the night of Wednesday October 9 to Thursday October 10, 2024, caused around ten deaths, numerous injuries and considerable damage. This dramatic event nevertheless brought some joy to Laura and Basil Yorio, a local couple. Forced to evacuate their home, they had a nice surprise on their return, reports BFMTV relaying the local media Fox 35 Orlando .

As she took her dog out, Laura was caught by a glow on the ground. “Looking down I saw a silver ring and thought it was a key ring”she explained. Approaching the object in question, the resident then noticed that it was a ring. It was her husband’s wedding ring, which had misplaced her almost ten years earlier.

Years of fruitless research

“We had a construction project about nine years ago, and it just disappeared.”Basil told our colleagues. The couple had searched tirelessly for the ring for years, without being able to get their hands on it. A landscaper also worked on their property every week, but had no greater success.

According to locals, the ring was probably dug up following heavy rains caused by the hurricane. “We are very aware that a lot of people are going through terrible things, and I feel a little guilty for celebrating all of this, but it was something good”concluded the American.
