In Antibes, the Chemin du Fort Carré will soon be accessible to people with reduced mobility

It was about time! The coastal path, which goes from Fort Carré beach to Creps (the Center for resources, expertise and sports performance) will be redone. Objective: that next spring, anyone, especially people with reduced mobility, can benefit from it. Which is not yet the case.

To do this, the ground – currently stony – will be completely reclaimed. As the site is classified, several meetings were necessary to validate the project. The solution chosen for the main part of the route is to keep the current material, crush it, flatten it, add lime, compact it and let nature take over on each side of the path.

The last area overlooks part of the Vauban port and arrives at Creps. There, the coating and the metal fence will be removed, in order to restore a green character to the site. Wooden barriers, more authentic, will complete the route.

No rehabilitation without guaranteed access for all

The total cost of the work is estimated at 500,000 euros excluding tax. They must begin in December and end around May.

“It is a technical and administrative feat above all, because the architect of the buildings of asks, in general, that we do not touch the site. But we were very insistent on the fact that a place which is not not accessible to all does not deserve to be revalued”comments Jean Leonetti, the mayor of . See you in May!
