“Oh my God, oh my God, this can’t be done, it’s over. I can’t believe it!” exclaimed Michael Artiaga, 16, last Sunday, in disbelief, putting his hands on his head. During a live streaming on the Twitch platform, this player known under the pseudonym dogplayingtetris, achieved an exploit on the famous game “Tetris”, of which he is, by the way, double world champion. He is the first known player to reach and exceed level 255, at the same time achieving a “rebirth” for the first time.

This phenomenon occurs when the level counter is reset to level 0. After completing 3,330 lines, the player continued his game until level 91, accumulating 4,216 lines and an impressive score of 29.4 million points, before giving up.

“Oh my God, I’m so glad this game is over. I never want to play this game again. I was really starting to lose my mind,” he said satisfied. Note that he used a version of the game for Nintendo’s NES console that prevents the game from crashing after level 155.

Last January, Willis Gibson, aka Blue Scuti, a young 13-year-old American player, was one of the first to complete the game on NES, although it did not have a real ending. During his performance, also live, he stopped after 38 minutes, having reached level 157.
