Sony still has to hold its head in its hands at the start of October. A few days after God of War: Ragnarok, it’s another of their exclusivity which comes up against the dissatisfaction of the players. A point of contention that has reigned for several months now.

Until Dawn in the shadow of Silent Hill 2

The month of October has well and truly arrived. It’s hard to go wrong with the resurgence of horror games. It must be said that the Silent Hill 2 remake is attracting all the spotlight. And for good reason. Bloober Team delivers, according to consensus, a modernized and excellently produced love letter to one of the most famous horror video games in the history of the medium. But when one title attracts the spotlight, the others are bathed in shadow. A stronger if they play in the same category.

This is of course the case with Until Dawn. The remake of the old PlayStation 4 exclusive is now available on PlayStation 5 but also on PC. This demonstrates Sony’s desire to strengthen its presence in the PC video game market. But wanting isn’t everything and after players’ dissatisfaction with God of War Ragnarok, the publisher is once again in their sights.

Until Dawn Remake: a mixed reception

Several shadows tarnish the already dark picture painted by Until Dawn. As we recall, the title released in 2015 developed by Supermassive Games recounts the night of horror experienced by eight young adults in a chalet in the mountains. The player, taking turns playing the tenants, must make very important decisions. These are literally matters of life and death and therefore these choices have a crucial importance on the multiple endings of the game.

However, for the remake, certain important scenes for the remake have been modified. One of them concerns Chris and Ashley. Fans of the first hour are quite mixed on the changes, with some pointing to a missed opportunity to develop the character of the second, but agree that they would have liked the possibility of replaying the original scene.

In addition to the basic problems, it is in the form that the remake of Until Dawn does not appeal. On the reddit pages and Steam from the title, we can read the technical optimization which is far from being that expected with; For example, ray tracing and dysfunctional DLSS. Furthermore, Until Dawn Remake does not escape the same treatment as Helldivers 2, Ghost of Tsushima or God of War: Ragnarok: in fact, you must be able to connect to the PlayStation Network to function.

A prerequisite that has created controversy for several months. With Until Dawn Remake, it could be seen as a new warning to gamers regarding Sony and its way of bringing its exclusives to PC.
