For more than 30 years, the Estivales de la Malepère have lit up Occitanie.
As usual, for over 30 years, from Sunday June 2 to Sunday June 16, the small village of Arzens en Malepère will experience an excitement like no other. The brains will be tickled, stimulated, all the senses awakened. Luminaries in the most varied fields will converge on the commune to deliver their messages, challenge minds, force questions, invite reflection and awareness.
These great moments of knowledge, culture and scholarly exchanges are so appreciated and awaited that some eager for knowledge do not hesitate to travel hundreds of kilometers to be present. The Estivales are unanimous. Carole Delga, the president of the Occitanie region, is full of praise when she talks about this event: “The Estivales invite us into the world of scientific, artistic or academic culture linked to important issues of our time. Open to all fields of knowledge, built on the expertise of the speakers, this edition promises to be a exciting new time. Jean-Marie Detrey, the president of Estivales, in his editorial, does not seek to hide his questions, his fears…, but also his hopes for the construction of a better Future: “This year, fewer equations, but more questions about our health, our society, our environment, our origins, our future… Will artificial intelligence be a tool to support us and go beyond our limits or will it be a prosthesis to replace a natural functionality that has become superfluous? Is our health, better and better protected by the progress of medical research, not more and more threatened by our daily environment? “We thought we had been deafened for so many decades, is it so primitively written in our oldest genes? Fortunately, light, sun and wine can bring us a few moments of comfort and optimism”.
