It was a real bet which came to an end after a week of reflection. The organizers have in fact taken the risk of organizing the creators’ market outdoors. A bet fortunately successful: “It rained from Monday to Saturday and we seriously approached the idea of holding the first market of the season in the Cloth Hall. Finally, we decided to keep the event outdoors and it worked out for us, with sunshine from the opening until 1 p.m. then cloudy weather but without rain. Weather which contributed to the success of the launch of this 4th edition”smiles Govan Chajia, organizer alongside Marie Sourdeau and Anne Bierna (founder of the non-profit association l’Accordéon, moi j’aime!).
Thus, unlike 2023, the season was able to start on time and without weather-related delays. A success for the organizers especially since, this year, they will play overtime: “The City wanted us to add a date, October 6, in order to fall at the same time as the Art in the City event. We will therefore have six organizations this year, always on the 1st Sunday of each month except in June when the market will be organized on the 16th. explains Govan.
Always more quality
Year after year the creARTeurs market becomes a reference in Tournaisis due in particular to the professionalism that characterizes it. “The artisans are happy with the organization, proof of which is the registrations closed in record time. On the visitor side, many positive feedback comes back to us, mainly in terms of the increasingly professional quality of the exhibitors”continues the organizer.
Huge enthusiasm around the creARTeurs market in Tournai: even the waiting list is closed
Anxious to maintain the quality of the market, the organizers are already thinking about potential new features while not wanting to overdo it: “The end of the work on Place de l’Evêché is expected soon. We would like to include it in the market by creating an artistic center in partnership with the specialized schools of Tournai such as the Institut Saint-Luc or the Beaux-Arts. However, nothing is certain. However, we will make sure to add street artists strolling through the aisles of the market in order to increase the entertainment offered”assures Govan.
While waiting for the new 2025 products, the creARTeurs market is already giving appointments for its next dates in 2024. Next meeting: Sunday June 16.
