According to Google, the new Pixel 8a is based on four fundamental pillars: productivity, security, longevity and financial accessibility.
On the productivity side, the Pixel 8a incorporates major advances in artificial intelligence. With Gemini AI, the smartphone notably offers the analysis of information from images and videos, thanks to the function Circle to Search, which involves circling an object with your finger to initiate a search. For its part, the function Live Translate promises instant translations in various everyday contexts.
In terms of security, the Pixel 8a inherits the standards of its predecessors, with the Titan M2 chip which protects your personal data effectively. Google’s VPN is also included at no extra cost, adding additional protection during your online activities (while Google has also removed the VPN from its Google One subscription offer). The phone also ensures your physical safety, thanks to functions such as automobile accident detection, Safety Check or crisis alerts.
On the axis of durability, Google announces exceptional longevity for a Pixel of the “a” series, with no less than seven years of software and security updates. As for the price, the manufacturer’s promise is to offer “the best camera phone under $500.” In France, the launch price is set at 549 euros, which is still 40 euros more expensive than last year’s model.
