The iPhone SE lineup is long overdue for completion, with a recent report from Bloomberg suggesting that the SE 4 could arrive in early 2025. While previous reports have already hinted at the features of the next affordable phone, the latest report from 9to5Mac provides specific details.

According to 9to5Mac, the iPhone SE 4 will incorporate features from the latest three flagship models. Specifically, the phone would be equipped with the Apple A18 chip, which is the same SoC that powers the latest non-Pro models of the iPhone 16. This would be a substantial upgrade over the 2022 SE, which is equipped with the aging A15.

9to5Mac also reports that the iPhone SE 2025 will not have a physical Home button like its predecessor. Instead, there would be a 6.1-inch screen with a notch, resembling the iPhone 14 (128GB renewed currently for $450.60 at Amazon). This would also make the next affordable smartphone sport Face ID instead of Touch ID.

As for the design change, it was already hinted at by the leaked CAD models from March Leaked CAD models from March of this year. This leak also suggested that the phone will only feature a single rear camera, and 9to5Mac confirms this information by claiming that there will be a single 48 MP sensor on the back of the iPhone SE 4.

This 48-megapixel camera would be the same primary sensor as that of the iPhone 15. This suggests that the sensor will retain the 2x optical zoom capability. As for the front, the iPhone SE 4 would be equipped with the same 12-megapixel selfie camera as the iPhone 15. These two cameras would be real improvements compared to what Apple offered with the 2022 model.

Additionally, 9to5Mac claims that the iPhone SE 4 will be Apple’s first smartphone to feature a 5G modem, codenamed “Centauri.” This modem would be possible thanks to Intel’s 2019 acquisition of Intel’s modem division ( ) , and Apple reportedly intends to experiment with it first on an affordable phone.
