Friction on the line between the Ultra and Pop WiFi 7 servers and Somfy’s TaHoma Switch.
Freebox Ultra and Pop WiFi 7 subscribers are currently experiencing problems with unexpected disconnections on their Tahoma Switch home automation box, according to a number of testimonials on the Somfy forum.
“Everything was working fine until last week, when suddenly my TaHoma Switch started constantly disconnecting. Red light and “box disconnected” indication in the application. From time to time it reconnects, then disconnects again a few minutes later. I haven’t changed anything in my network configuration at home. I look at the administration interface of my Freebox and even when the Tahoma Switch is disconnected, I see it connected to the box’s WiFi, I even see a few kilobytes of data transmitted here and there”confides Olivier.
This malfunction also affects Dorian, a Freebox Ultra subscriber: “same problem that everyone disconnects very often, I tried to dedicate a WiFi card from the Freebox because there are 4 of them, I tried all possible combinations, I always have disconnections”.
So how do you operate the TaHoma Switch, a real intelligent control for centralizing and connecting Somfy equipment and that of partner brands?
While waiting for a possible fix, a user on the Somfy forum offers a solution that seems to work: “you must disable the 802.11be standard on FreeboxOS. The TaHoma Switch clearly supports 802.11be frames very poorly”. It is also proposed to separate the 2.4GHz Wifi network on a different SSID.
Finally, it is advisable to stay on the 20MHz band for WiFi unless you are in the countryside with no close neighbors.
