ASTRO BOT: a huge franchise is missing, why?

ASTRO BOT is a must-have for all fans of platform games, but also for all fans of PlayStation. As Astro’s Playroom, the title of Team Asobi is an ode to consoles Sonywith a bunch of more or less hidden references to games that have been released on these machines for 30 years. But an absence in ASTRO BOT stood out.

In ASTRO BOT there is no trace of the saga Final Fantasy. A surprising observation, Final Fantasy VII is a cult game from the first PlayStation, the franchise is generally linked to Sonyuntil FF XVI most recently exclusive to the PS5 for a year before coming to PC. Fans are even more surprised thatAstro’s Playroom included a easter egg of FF 7namely the sword of Cloud Strife.

SO, why didn’t ASTRO BOT get a Bot of Cloudor even to a simple, more discreet reference? Well Game File (via GamingShop) asked the question to studio director Nicolas Doucet, but obviously the subject is complicated:

It’s difficult to comment on this. We truly respect each editor’s choice.

Nicolas Doucet doesn’t really answer the question, but obviously, it is Square Enix who did not want to give their consent to see his saga Final Fantasy represented in the title of Team Asobi. A disappointment for the fans, even if such a decision would undoubtedly have delighted John Garvin for Days Gone.

Fortunately, a bunch of other licenses are celebrated in ASTRO BOTyou can find the game at €59.99 at Fnac.
