It seems that ASUS is also jumping on the Snapdragon X series bandwagon. Officially, the company has not confirmed this yet. That being said, its latest press release hinted that this would be the case. For one, it announced that it would hold a “virtual launch event” on May 20.

While it’s nothing in itself, May 20 is also the date Microsoft is expected to announce the consumer versions of the Surface Laptop 6 and Surface Pro 10. To that end, ASUS has clarified that its event will be a result of a collaboration between itself, Microsoft and Qualcomm, during which it will welcome “renowned speakers” from both companies. On the other hand, ASUS seems to have revealed which laptop it will present on May 20.

In its press release, the company only describes the event as an opportunity to showcase its “first ASUS AI PC of the new era.” However, the title of its single teaser image suggests that the “AI PC” will be the successor to the current Vivobook S 16OLED. Specifically, ASUS named the image “S5507 PR announcement”, with S5506 being the model number of the Vivobook S 15 OLED which currently uses Intel’s Meteor Lake-H processors. So it seems that ASUS intends to offer a 16-inch laptop equipped with a Snapdragon Slim 7 which are set to similar silicon.
