Returnal: Fallen Asteria, after the Housemarque tease, the 3rd anniversary project revealed

On April 30, 2021, Housemarque launched on PS5 its TPS roguelite Returnal, which then received various updates improving the experience, as well as a PC version released last year. You would have understood it, It’s this Tuesday that the game will celebrate its third anniversary. It is in this context that a visual was posted a few hours ago on the account Twitter / X from the studio, giving us an appointment tomorrow.

The look of this shattered portrait immediately alerted the players, since it seems to be that of Selene Vassosthe protagonist of this adventure on Atropos. The word “Tomorrow” is written in yellow, once again recalling Returnal. A short video that doesn’t tell us any more continued teasing two hours later, while the count PlayStation Studios XDEV has https://twitter.com/Sony_XDEV/status/1784906412943946086 at the announcement, a sign that something is going on.

So, what should you expect? If a sequel is to see the light of day, it will in any case not involve Harry Krueger, who left the studio in 2023. Others think that an official virtual reality mode could be announced for the PlayStation VR 2knowing that it is possible to play it in VR on PC thanks to a mod. If it is indeed a question of Returnal, maybe an extension or a big update could come and celebrate its 3 years? Either way, we can’t wait to find out what Housemarque has concocted in recent years.

Update : it seems that the announcement is ultimately linked to Dark Horse Comicswho has https://twitter.com/DarkHorseComics/status/1784998036822954054 the original tweet. It’s immediately much less exciting, I must admit.

Update (04/30/24) : for the third anniversary of Returnal, Housemarque has just revealed Fallen Asteriaan 88-page comic book expected on October 22 and 23, 2024 in commerce, which got off to a lively start. A artbook will also see the light of day.

If you’ve never played Returnalit is sold for €41.88 on Amazon (PS5) and €53.99 at Gamesplanet (PC).
