An engineering school in Toulouse (Haute-Garonne) is looking for volunteers to participate in two of its new studies. The first scientific experiment involves training your brain and the second aims to determine the impact of body movement on driving performance.

Have you ever heard of neuroergonomics? Know that this is a discipline aimed at optimizing the functioning of the brain in its environment and improving its performance. It is also the preferred research area of around fifteen researchers from the higher institute of aeronautics and space, Isae-Supaéro.

Within the engineering school based in Toulouse, studies are regularly carried out for application to the aerospace sector. Objectives: design intelligent cockpits, improve interactions between humans and robots or even train your brain for flexibility.

The experience takes place over five consecutive sessions, lasting from 45 minutes to an hour and a half. In this study, we seek to know the effects of different cognitive or auditory training on listening effort.indicates the institute in its call for volunteers. Listening effort is the effort we put into complex listening tasks specifically. For example, in a restaurant or in a crowd, to listen to an interlocutor, a greater effort must be made than in a calm and silent room.”

During this experience, different tasks will be entrusted to you. And signals from your brain will be recorded using electrodes placed on your head. Only criteria to participate: be under 40 years old, not have a neurological history or hearing disorder, French must be your mother tongue.

Your participation will be paid up to 60 euros. To register, simply contact Caroline Hemery by email.

Take part here in a virtual reality experience whose objective is to measure the impact of body movement on your performance and ability to conduct remote operations.

You will have two tasks to accomplish: one of vertical perception for five to ten minutes, the second will consist of piloting a spaceship in virtual reality, while being placed on a movement platform. For one hour, your performance, errors and reaction times will be recorded. You will also be asked about the perceived workload.

The criteria for registering: being between 18 and 60 years old, normal or corrected vision and not having travel sickness. If you are interested, you can contact Maëlis Lefebvre.

The experiments will take place at Isae-Supaéro, at 10 avenue Edouard Belin in Toulouse. Also note that the institute will host on May 16 and 17, 2024, an international conference of world-renowned scientists on the theme of cognitive assistance to pilots in the cockpits of the future thanks to artificial intelligence.
