Big development: Google Maps gets a makeover with new satellite images

It’s not just the Google Maps interface that’s improving. Sometimes we get real new features in terms of the map and satellite images. This is the case today, both for Maps and for Google Earth.

Artificial intelligence continues to make progress, including in Google Maps’ satellite imagery. Indeed, thanks to an AI called Cloud Score+, the aerial view of Google Maps and Google Earth will reach levels never seen before, as explained by 9to5Google.

The software has in fact removed all the noise from satellite images, which includes, for example, clouds and other weather phenomena, in order to reveal the Earth’s surface with unparalleled precision. An improvement that is also reflected in the very high-quality 3D view of Google Earth. This new globe is thus described as “brighter”.

And in a completely opposite sense, it will now be possible to consult aerial images on Google Maps dating back to the 1920s in the most extreme cases, in order to compare them with current reality, and to reveal the changes that have taken place in the meantime.

With this same update, Google Maps has also greatly improved and expanded Street View. You can now discover countries never seen before, such as Paraguay or Bolivia. Similarly, some countries already partially covered will see a significant expansion.
