The OnePlus 13 and Oppo Find X8 are expected to support in-house magnetic wireless charging technology, inspired by Apple’s MagSafe.
While Apple is far from offering the most interesting charging powers on the market, it must be recognized that the manufacturer was one of the pioneers of magnetic wireless charging with its MagSafe technology. Android brands have never really taken hold of the subject, despite the arrival of the Qi2 standard, which notably brings this magnetic attachment system. But the situation seems to be about to change.
According to the Chinese leaker Digital Chat Stationwhich is based on documents from the Chinese certification body 3C, the Oppo X8 series smartphones will feature the “Most powerful magnetic wireless charging on Android”The OnePlus 13 is also expected to get a magnetic wireless charging feature, inspired by Apple’s MagSafe.
More convenient and versatile wireless charging
As a reminder, this type of magnetic wireless charging has many advantages. First, it allows you to better position your device on the charging station without effort, improving charging efficiency. With MagSafe, Apple and third-party manufacturers have especially developed a whole range of accessories that take advantage of magnetism. Cases, covers, stands, card holders, external batteries… so many gadgets that are added to the iPhone to enrich the experience.
The Oppo Find X8, on the other hand, should make concessions on wired charging speed, while remaining much higher than what is found elsewhere. From 100 W (11V/9.1A) on the Find X7, we would thus go to 80 W (11V/7.3A) on the new model. The OnePlus 13 would not undergo the same treatment, retaining its 100 W charge with cable.
The impact of this new technology on wireless charging power is still uncertain. The OnePlus 12 and Oppo Find X7 Ultra offered 50W induction charging with the appropriate charger, it is not impossible that the maximum performance will be revised downwards.
The OnePlus 13 and Oppo Find X8 should also benefit from a higher capacity battery, without changing its size, but thanks to a higher energy density.
