It’s time to the calculator: 17.5 million francs just for qualifying, not counting the share of domestic TV rights, a little less than 2 million for success in the phase, around 700,000 for a draw. Add to all that the ranking bonus at the end of the preliminary round (275,000 francs for the last, 36 the same amount for the first) and a bonus of 11 million for qualifying for the round of 16…

Participation in the C1 is therefore the goose that lays the golden eggs for a European team, and even more so for a Super League organization. In total, more than 4 billion francs are redistributed by UEFA for the teams competing this year.

This qualification of the Bernese, the 12th for a Swiss club in the last 22 years, has other positive effects. It allows our country to move back up to 15th place (14th) in the UEFA coefficient. A ranking that virtually ensures that the Super League will send two teams to qualify for the next Champions League, that the winner of the Cup will enter the 3rd qualifying round for the Europa League and, in all, that five Swiss teams will be European.

And YB has not finished scoring points for Switzerland, because in this new C1 formula everything is possible. The Swiss champion will face two teams from pots three and four: either affordable opponents such as Sparta Prague, Sturm Graz or Brest, or oppositions against Monaco or Aston Villa, for example. And in the first two pots? In any case, there are almost only unplayable teams, the best in Europe.
