The Oura Ring 4 is here: The US company is introducing the next generation of the small wearable. We show all the details about the changes, price and release date here.

While the South Korean manufacturer Samsung is represented in the smart ring market for the first time with the Galaxy Ring, Oura is already entering its fourth generation. As the company announced in a press release, the aptly named “Oura Ring 4” wearable will be available in global retail starting October 15, 2024. The RRP is at least 350 US dollars, the euro price starts at 399 euros. The monthly subscription fees remain the same.

Oura fundamentally reworks the appearance of the fourth ring: Oura relies entirely on titanium as the material and relies on curves instead of flat sides. The sensor technology is also being greatly improved: instead of the previous eight, there are now 18 sensor channels in the Oura Ring, which should lead to up to 120 percent better signal quality. The measurement of blood oxygen levels (SpO2) is also up to 30 percent more precise.

Nevertheless, the battery life of the Oura Ring 4 should see a slight improvement; The manufacturer speaks of up to eight days before the wearable needs to be recharged. However, the actual battery life also depends on the size of the ring that Oura adds. Instead of the previous eight different options, the fourth generation of the ring is available in sizes 4 to 15. This is also intended to capture the ever-growing target group of women between the ages of 20 and 30, who, according to Oura, are now the largest group of buyers.

A total of six options are mentioned as color variations, which are divided into different shades of gold, silver and black. The aforementioned Oura subscription is still required for many of the features, which have at least been refreshed with new health assessments. The subscription itself is six euros per month or 70 euros annually.
