3:3! Crazy Europa League game in Porto ends in a draw

A high-scoring game in the second round of the UEFA Europa League between FC Porto and Manchester United ended 3-3.

Both teams are among the favorites of this EL season, but neither Manchester United (1:1 against Twente) nor Porto (2:3 against Bodö/Glimt) were able to live up to expectations at the start.

The “Red Devils” got off to a much better start in Porto. Rashford (7th) goes inwards from the left, dribbles past the Portuguese defense and nets in the bottom left. The English follow up, in the 20th minute it is former striker Höjlund who again makes Porto goalkeeper Costa look bad and creates a two-goal lead.

Porto comeback is not enough for victory

The Portuguese found their rhythm and managed to equalize within seven minutes with header goals from Pepe (27th) and Aghehowa (34th).

The game, full of chances, continues spectacularly even after the break: First Moura forgives, a little later Aghehowa runs in and slams Pepe’s cross into the net from the right (50th).

Then it gets bitter for Manchester United, Bruno Fernandes (81st) sees a yellow-red card nine minutes before the end after a dangerous game. Porto misses a huge opportunity and the decision shortly afterwards. This takes revenge in stoppage time, Maguire (90+1.) nods off after a header and still scores a point.

Schwab team with home defeat

In Thessaloniki it is FCSB Bucharest that initially sets the tone. The Romanians, who defeated LASK in the playoff, took the lead in stoppage time in the first half through Birligea (45+8).

However, PAOK Saloniki gained hope in the 55th minute as the away team weakened itself.

Olaru (56th) sees the yellow-red card in a strange way: after he thinks he has been fouled, he reaches for the ball as he falls, but the referee saw it differently and shows the midfielder a yellow card for handball , his second of the day.

In the 73rd minute, ÖFB legionnaire Stefan Schwab comes into the game, but he can’t change the score anymore, it remains a 0-1 defeat.

In the Netherlands, Twente Enschede and Fenerbahce Istanbul draw 1-1. After Vlap gave the hosts the lead (29th), Tadic equalized for the Turks in the 71st minute. After the second matchday, Lazio Rome is at the top of the table, with Besiktas Istanbul in last place.
