Former inn in Schleitheim SH completely destroyed after fire

(Keystone-SDA) The former Gasthof Post in Schleitheim SH went up in flames on Tuesday night: According to police, the historic building was completely destroyed. No people were injured.

At around 3:15 a.m. a report was received that the attic of a barn in Schleitheim was on fire, the Schaffhausen police said on Tuesday morning. When the fire brigade arrived, both the barn and the adjoining former inn were already fully ablaze.

The fire department was subsequently able to bring the fire under control and protect the adjacent buildings from the flames, according to the statement.

The Schaffhausen police spoke of a “major fire” on Tuesday morning. According to current knowledge, no people were injured. The amount of property damage and the cause of the fire are also still unknown. The relevant investigations have been started.

Members of the Randental, Schaffhausen, Mittelklettgau and Neuhausen Oberklettgau fire departments as well as the Upper Cantonal Fire Department and the German Stühlingen Fire Department were on duty. Employees from the emergency services of the Schaffhausen hospitals, the EKS, the intercantonal laboratory as well as members of the Schaffhausen cantonal fire police and the Schaffhausen police were also on site.
