A new credit to put the Cœur de ville project into practice. The Porrentruy City Council will have to decide on Thursday on an amount of 660,000 francs intended for redevelopment work on Rue du 23 juin. A hundred meters which is located between the City Hall and Place des Bennelats. The work will focus on underground infrastructure, surfacing, removal of thresholds, planting and installation of street furniture. After Rue Pierre-Péquignat, it is therefore the link between the old town and the Esplanade Centre which is targeted in order to facilitate soft mobility, even if this street will still have to be able to accommodate emergency services.

Work already undertaken on part of the street

During the work on Place des Bennelats, but also on Rue Pierre-Péquignat, excavations had already been opened on part of the section. Chantal Gerber, municipal councillor in charge of the file, recalls that “now it is really the mandate to work on the sanitation of the hundred metres of Rue du 23 Juin on the east side. Each street requires an engineer’s mandate because we have to make sure, before carrying out excavations, where the existing infrastructures are located.” The elected official also notes that it is difficult to limit mobility in the old town in several sectors at the same time.

If the City Council approves the credit on Thursday, initial work on the fédérale restaurant should begin on November 18. The rest is planned for the spring. /ncp
