This is what his father, Torjorn Pettersson, told the Swedish daily Sundsvall’s newspaper.
The 26-year-old hockey player purchased a luxurious home worth US$2.4 million in the municipality of Danderyd. He paid a deposit of US$240,000, or 10% of the total amount.
“It turned out that the house had many defects that needed to be repaired,” Torbjorn Pettersson said.
The Canucks player therefore decided to sue the real estate agent responsible for the transaction and managed to have the mortgage canceled, but he was not able to recover his deposit.
-Furthermore, the real estate agent is now in prison. He received a six-year sentence on fraud charges unrelated to the Pettersson case. Let’s just say that further reduces the National League player’s chances of getting his money back.
“The money is lost. We just have to forget it and move on,” said the father.
Pettersson receives $11.6 million annually until the end of the 2031-2032 season.
