Algeria avoids RS Berkane and Morocco’s FAKE map

Algeria
– The Union Sportive de la Médina d’Algiers (USMA) continues to write its history on the continental scene. On Sunday, the “Rouge et Noir” validated their ticket to the quarter-finals of the African Confederation Cup thanks to a well-deserved victory against Orapa United (2-1) on the fifth day of the group stage. This is also the case for the people of Constantine. The two Algerian clubs could thus avoid RS Berkane.

A solid collective performance

USMA quickly took the lead thanks to a goal scored
Gasama in the 14th minute, confirming its domination from the first actions. The second goal, scored by
Houssem Ghacha in the 60th minute, allowed the Algerians to consolidate their lead. Despite a reduction in the score of the Botswana team, the USMA men managed their lead with calm and control, thus securing three precious points.

With a total of 11 pointsUSMA rises to the top of Group C, a position that guarantees their qualification for the quarter-finals. This result confirms the positive dynamic of the team, still driven by the momentum of its historic coronation in 2023.

The CSC also there

CS Constantine (CSC), the other Algerian representative in the competition, also shone this weekend. By winning against CS Sfaxien, the Constantine club took first place in its group. A performance which not only validates their qualification, but also allows them to avoid a dreaded clash against the RS Berkane in the quarter-finals.

No Algeria-Morocco confrontation for the moment

With USMA and CSC at the top of their respective groups, neither of the two Algerian clubs would cross paths with RS
Berkane
also first in their group, in the event of a good result in the last match of the group stage.

A renewed African ambition

These performances illustrate the rise of Algerian football on the continental scene. The joint successes of USMA and CSC demonstrate not only their strength, but also their ability to compete with the biggest teams in Africa.

As the quarter-finals approach, Algerian clubs have a unique opportunity to further mark the history of African football. For the USMA and the CSC, the dream of an Algerian double in this competition remains more possible than ever.
