Across the NHL: Dylan Guenther sidelined indefinitely, Josh Doan recalled

The Utah Hockey Club announced Friday that forward Dylan Guenther will be sidelined indefinitely with a lower-body injury. To replace him in the lineup, the team recalled forward Josh Doan from the AHL’s Tucson Roadrunners.

In 40 games this season, Guenther has amassed 34 points (16 goals, 18 assists), which gives him third place among the best scorers on his team.

Doan, the son of former NHLer Shane Doan, played nine games in the NHL this season, recording one goal and one assist. In 25 games in the AHL, he has a record of eight goals and 13 assists this year.

Pettersson and Demko return

Vancouver Canucks forward Elias Pettersson and goaltender Thatcher Demko are both expected to be back in the team’s lineup tonight when it takes on the Carolina Hurricanes, TSN’s Farhan Lalji reports.

Pettersson missed the team’s last six games with an undisclosed injury.

The center scored 10 goals and collected 28 points in 34 games this season.

Demko has missed the Canucks’ last three games due to back spasms.

The 2024 Vezina Trophy finalist missed the first two months of the season after recovering from a knee injury suffered during last season’s playoffs.

Demko is 2-1-3 this season with a 3.34 goals-against average and a .881 save percentage.

Zary under evaluation

Calgary Flames head coach Ryan Huska said forward Connor Zary’s condition is “still under evaluation.”

Zary was injured following a knee-to-knee collision with Anaheim Ducks defenseman Drew Helleson on Thursday.

Helleson received a five-minute major penalty and a game misconduct for the hit.

Zary has 10 goals and 12 assists for 22 points in 41 games this season.

The Flames recalled forward Rory Kerins from the AHL’s Calgary Wranglers on Friday.
