Your T2 leaves at the start of the season… You adapt without flinching. You inherit a core with a lot of players… You look for solutions so that each of them can flourish.
You formed dreams for young people.
You were a dream trainer because your goal was not primarily to satisfy your ego as a coach but to help each player progress under your wing. Gently. Everyone at their own pace. With great kindness. Team A, B or C. It didn’t matter… as long as you had motivated players.
You were a dream trainer because you didn’t seek to win at all costs. The path taken to victory was much more important to you. With defeat as an inevitable passage.
-You were a dream trainer because you impressed your players with your humanity, thus earning their respect and eternal gratitude.
You just have to listen closely these last few days at the club to understand to what extent you have left an indelible mark as a trainer. Magnificent traces drawn in the minds of the players you met during your time at the club and which will allow them to develop themselves as footballers but above all as human beings. And that’s probably why, Ivan, you’re a dream trainer!
In tribute to Ivan Bena Yona, U14B coach at RFC Saint-Michel, and to all coaches like him.
